Crohn's Disease natural Treatments and Cures
What
causes Chrohn's disease? –
One theory holds that a bacterium
that causes
intestinal illness in cattle and sheep could be responsible for Crohn's
disease. Another theory is that causes of Crohn’s disease are
more likely
related to a sensitive stomach and diet.
Either way, there is little doubt that
natural treatments for Crohn’s
disease can at least help improve the symptoms, if not lead to healing
Crohns
disease.
Chron's
disease is an inflammation in the small intestine. Scientists are not
sure what causes it but many
suspect it is
due to a reaction by the body's immune system to a virus or bacterium.
Dr Saleh
Naser and researchers at the University of Central Florida in Orlando
believe
it is due to a bacterium called Mycobacterium paratuberculosis that is
found in
cattle, sheep and goats suffering from an illness called Johne's
disease.
Stinging Nettle and
Chrohn's Disease
Some evidence suggests that stinging nettle helps chronic colitis. The
long-term use of stinging nettle extract
for Chrons disease is effective in the prevention of chronic
murine colitis.
This effect seems to be due to a decrease in the Th1 response and may
be a new
therapeutic option for prolonging remission in inflammatory bowel
disease-IBS-
and other intestinal diseases like Crohns.
Alequel and
Crohn's Disease
Alequel
is a preparation
of proteins extracted from a
person's own colon cells and administered orally and it can lead to
disease
remission in
many patients with Crohns disease. To make
Alequel,
material is taken from a biopsy of the mucosal layer of the large
bowel. Afterwards, it is solubilized, made with a
specific
buffer. The patient then
takes the preparation by the mouth three times per week. Perhaps not particularly apetizing, but it often seems to work.
The most important thing a sufferer of Crohn's disease can do is keep researching and learning what they can about what is working for others. Finding the best Diet for Crohns is important, as is taking care of yourself and taking the best crohn's supplements.
