Prostate Cures and Supplements for Swollen Enlarged
Prostates
Over half of
40-59 year-old men have enlarged prostates (swolen prostrates), and,
although most will not develop
clinically significant disease, one fourth of 50-year olds have some
cancerous
cells in their prostate.
Selenium for Prostrate health
Selenium (celenium, silenium, selinium, cilinium,
cilenium, celinium) is
a trace mineral that occurs in varying amounts in plant and animal
foods, depending on the amount in the soil where the plants were grown.
Because of this, it is very difficult to make generalizations about the
amount of selenium in various foods. Even brazil nuts, commonly
stated to have high amounts of selenium, has much less selenium in some
regions they are harvested. Still, certain foods tend to be
consistently hogh in selenium (selinium, salinium) and so are
recommended for those wanting to increase their intakes. They include
Brazil nuts, which are usually several times higher than selenium than
other foods- so high in fact that some experts recommend not having
unusually large amounts of brazil nuts for an extended period of time.
Beef, turkey, chicken, pasta and rice are also higher than most
foods. Of course, selenium is also available as a supplement. As with
nearly any healthy mineral or supplement, too much of a good thing is
not a good thing. Follow directions carefully to prevent high levels
from building up.
Lycopene
supplements for Prostate health (lysopene, licopene, lisopene)- found in red
foods like tomato based foods, guavas, watermelon and pink grapefruit
Saw Palmetto
for prostate health. The most widely used supplement for prostate health, and
probably the best supplement for an enlarged prostate (prostrate), is
Saw palmetto (saw palemetto, saw palmetto, saw pametto) which some
studies suggest is more effective than proscar, with less side effects.
Pygeum for prostate health
(pigeum, pygium) is also poplular and effective for a healthy prostate (postrate, prostrate).
Stinging nettle for
prostate health (stinging neddle) is also one of the most effective herbs for
a swollen prostate (prostrate).
Genistein supplement
for prostate (genestein, ginestein, ginestien, ginistein, genestien)
found in soy based foods.
Zinc
supplements for prostate health- some studies suggest that trace minerals such as zinc are also helpful for prostrate health.
